We have a day for giving thanks, two days for retail deals and we have a day for giving back.

Giving Tuesday has become a national day of giving on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Tuesday will mark the third national Giving Tuesday.

This year a new statewide effort called Maryland Gives More will promote giving in an effort to make Maryland the "Most Generous State in America."

Maryland Gives More is building off last year's very successful Giving Tuesday effort called B'More Gives More, where Baltimore organized the second-biggest fundraiser in the nation recognizing more than $5 million in giving in just one day.

Foundations, corporate givers, funders, nonprofits and individuals have partnered to spread the word and help fund hundreds of organizations raising dollars and awareness for their cause. Maryland Nonprofits is coordinating the effort to convene every organization participating in Giving Tuesday in the state — and count every dollar raised.

Whether an everyday giver, a corporate giver, a foundation, fund, or a small business, there are opportunities to get involved, activate social networks and help make this effort a success. A number of businesses and corporate funders participated in a variety of ways last year, and there are numerous opportunities for the Maryland funding community to engage this year.

How you can get involved?

We look forward to seeing how the Maryland funding community will participate this year in Maryland Gives More.
