National coastal flooding expert, Professor Sam Brody, of Texas A & M, returns to Baltimore on April 26 to continue our examination of how floods threaten Maryland communities and vulnerable populations. His focus will be on solutions and a portion of our program will be an interactive exploration of how to apply them in Maryland and in Baltimore.

In March, Professor Brody showed us the scale of losses from recent storms, using maps and insurance claims data to draw a vivid picture, and discussed the potential impacts for Maryland.

What could be Maryland's losses from the next Super Storm? How do we begin now to adopt protective policies and practices?  Considering our most vulnerable communities, the losses will be measured not just in insurance claims, but also in defaults on small business loans, increases in public welfare demands, and lost green space and farmlands. Which available solutions will deliver the greatest flood protections to Maryland communities and what are the cost effective policy choices we need to be making now?

Join us for a presentation and workshop on solutions for Maryland, the costs of inaction, and the opportunities to protect our most vulnerable residents from the devastation of floods.

This program is for ABAG Members and invited guests only.
