Two important plans are working their way through Baltimore City’s Planning Department. The Green Network Plan is a collective vision for Baltimore to revitalize communities by reimagining vacant and abandoned properties and transforming them into community assets such as parks, gardens, urban farms, open space and future development sites. The final Plan will be a vision for vibrant green open spaces and corridors connecting the entire city and laying the foundation for the revitalization of some of Baltimore’s most challenged neighborhoods.

April 2016 marked the official start of a new, collaborative process to rewrite the citywide Sustainability Plan together with the citizens of Baltimore with an eye toward concrete metrics, a broader definition of what sustainability means, and greater attention paid to issues of equity and inclusion. Over 1,100 surveys have been collected and are being evaluated alongside feedback collected from over 500 people who attended stakeholder meetings about the Plan.

Join staff from the Baltimore City Department of Planning to hear details about these two plans; how an equity lens, community voice, and coordination of public services and city agencies are playing a part in the plans as well as the overall vision/approach of the planning department; and to discuss the interests and potential actions of ABAG members regarding sustainability in Baltimore City.

Our speakers will be:

  • Thomas J. Stosur, Director, Baltimore City Department of Planning; and
  • Anne Draddy, Sustainability Coordinator, Baltimore Office of Sustainability.

This program is for ABAG members only.
